I have a Pioneer A06U Multi-Format DVD Burner and a recently purchased Sony DDU1621 DVD-Rom Drive. I got tired of waiting about 30 minutes to rip one of my DVDs that I want to make a backup of, so I bought that sony DVD-Rom drive. Now it takes about 15 minutes, give or take, to rip a movie. Unfortunately, when I use my new Sony drive to rip the DVD and run it thru DVD2AVI (like normal), I get an A.E.! in the info box. I figured it must mean Audio error (I put a post in another section of this forum) and also by running the ac3 file thru ac3fix. But, when I rip the movie with my Pioneer drive, which takes a half an hour, I get no errors and the audio is fine. Can anyone please explain why this is happening or a way to fix it? I tried updraging the firmware for the sony drive and the firmware update was successful, but it still rips with errors in the audio.

  2. Different drives have different error correction.

If you don't want to wait half hour you could try this firmware that removes the rip speed limit and makes your drive region free.
