Try this site http://www.geocities.com/lukesvideo/ and read the section on Interlacing. It should give you some ideas. I'm just getting into this interlacing issue myself and I haven't had time to digest all the info on the site yet but it looks like a good place to start.

if it is film (23.976) or pal (25) then it is non-interlace if it is ntsc then it is interlaced.

If the movie has alot of scrolling in all directions use a double field filter ( you lose clarity), if it is pretty stable or only scrolls use te even or odd filter ( is jumpy in the scrolling but is more clear.

  3. PAL can be interlaced on a DVD, The Wall for example.

  4. If we are talking TMPGEnc, the "double (adaptive)" deinterlace option seems to be the best option in my experience. It doesn't lose as much clarity as the regular double deinterlace, and it doesn't drop whole fields like even or odd only do.

  6. my bad....double seems to be same as blend...however..in really interlaced video...blend or double removes the horizontal lines..but makes the video really, really jumpy...any help?
