What is the best DVD Authoring

I have been burning DVDs for about a year now and have limit success with MY DVD, DVDit 2.5, Encore and DVD workshop.(One software package will offer one extra that another does not have) What sofware package is the best for under $300 that will create chapter points, motion background and buttons, encoding, etc. Or just let me know what software you use and why you like it.

DVDit! PE will do a lot of mid-level work, with the exception of motion menus and multi VTS.

To get the funtionality of DVDit! PE and the motion/VTS aspect, I recently upgraded to DVD Workshop 2 (but be sure to install all the new updates and patches!).

TMPGEnc DA is newbie software. It is easy to use, sure, but the end product look pretty bad, as the software has poor, poor alias control on the fonts, rendering most fonts unreadable. Aside from converting VCD to DVD, or when dealing with imperfect source, TDA is not very good at all. Just cheap and not picky.

I use tda and find it great for general dvd authoring and i havent found any problems with fonts plus its easy to add mpg1 and mpg2 to separate tracks and all my dvds created from tda play ok.

I have used Pinnacle Studio 8, Nero Vision Express and most recently Ulead VideoStudio 8. I have also tried a host of others but I like VideoStudio 8 (VS8) the best. VS8 is easy to use, seems to be very stable, produces fairly decent results and renders quicker than most of the of the other authoring programs I have tried. So far, their tech support has been very responsive and helpful. Lastly, they have a free
trial version that is fully functional for 30 days.

I have read the reviews for DVDlab, Ulead DVD factory and DVDit 5.0. Of those three which one gives the most bang for its buck

I am partial (and in the vast minority here) to DVD Architect 2. It's a little pricey, but Vegas 5 is outstanding and DVD-A suits my needs very well.

My vote goes to DVDlab. Although I am not real sure about the "encoding" specification you added. I don't think it will do that (which by the way, is one of the reasons I like it). I think the pro version of it is like $200.

I use tmpgenc for stereo but Encore for 5.1 channel dvd

I am using DVDit. It doesn't support subtitle and live icon. Does DVDlab support these ?

Ulead DVD Workshop 2.011 may help you (not sure about subs, ulead.com for info). But it's more than $300.
