I have tried to burn dvd-rs from avi files before and have suceeded using tmpgenc and unlead movie factory 3 respectively.
But here comes the problem: when movie factory says that the dvd will take up too much space (and the program cant compress these files which is naff).
So: i try using tmpgenc dvd author and dvd shrink combo to compress it a wee (big) bit to make it fit - whala! it burns onto a dvd-r 4.3gb .
The other problem now: the dvd does not play on any of my dvd players or my pc (dirty/bad disc error - pc just keeps trying to open disc) - what gives?
any help wud be appreciated, thanks

DVDshrink is good at what it does, i doubt that is the problem. what dvd writer/media are you using? what speed is it rated and what speed are you burning?

    Cool avatar btw

my dvd writer....is an atapi dvd dual 4Xmax apparently (that is what u were askin for right?) ive not tried using dvd+r yet tho because i have a 50 cake of -r's. ive burned other films from .avi before and its worked but when i try to change the compression it messes up ... i think. this is all pretty much trial and error to me. let me jus try sumthin else to mkae sure it is the compression thats doing it. i have tried burning at 1x speed and 3.2 speed (i think) and both times its come out the same

ps. my avatar gets reeealy annoying after u stare at it for a while

pss. i have also tried using winavi to do it but that didnt work either (gods got sumthin against me and these movies i see)
