  1. I've had my Apex AD-1100W for less than 2 years. A couple of days ago I tried to play a dvd on it and almost as soon as a put the dvd in it immediately said, "No Disk." I tried cds and various dvds but all with the same result. Its not like it can't understand the format because these are not burned dvds. Even when it doesn't recognize the format, it takes a couple of minutes to scan the disk before declaring "no disk." Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have a solution?? Thanks.

  2. Have you tried a lens cleaning yet?

I've always had intermittent situations where that particular machine can take some time to read the TOC on a DVD-RW or DVD+RW disc, but never THAT long...

  4. How do I perform a lense cleaning? Or would I have to try updating the firmware? If so, how can I do that?

Remove the cover and use q-tips and isopropyl alcohol and clean the lense.

I tried Nero, Easy CD Creator, CLONECD, VCDEASY, you name it. Tried to convert to avi, then burn, tried to go with a slower speed, 1000000 dollar CD-R etc.

What was the problem? Well, I read the forums and people were telling to open my DVD and pull back the track for the discs. I thought this can't be....

I tried and guess what?: This solved every problem. Put in the disk, pull back the track (with the DVD open, of course) and hit the play button !!!!!!!!!

    Every VCD, MP3 works now.

    Thanks guyz !!!!!!!
Look up the 1100W in the Player section. I found this first but I remember there are others who describe the fix a lot better.

Post your problem at the APEX 1100w forum site. You'll find more help there than in this forum site. Here's the link for it:
