  1. I recently downloaded a XviD file - 700MB - 2h 28mins

I used MainConcept to convert to Elementary video and audio, however, the audio stream was only 1hr long.

So I used VirtualDubMod to extract the audio as a WAV which DVD-lab reported was not suitable for DVD, so...

I tried using DVD-lab's transcode audio feature, but whenever I hit the large Transcode button it just generates a 1KB file named AUDIO_48kHz.mp2.

I have just tried Besweet and this generates the audio ten minutes short.

How can I get the audio converted correctly so I can use it in DVD-lab. I have never had a problem like this before. Help

  2. well, if the audio you got out of BeSweet was 10mins short then that's probably a wrong PAL/NTSC setting. A PAL movie has been sped up from 24 to 25 fps. On a 2 and a half hour movie I think 10mins would be about right. So try changing the setting from PAL to NTSC or vica versa...

  3. Thanks for the reply, I never thought of that. I thought that the PAL NTSC only mattered for video.

  4. My XviD source is PAL - 25fps. So why am I getting shortened audio.

Can someone advise me on the best course to:
RIP the audio from my XviD file and then
    TRANSCODE this to DVD-compliant audio

As with a lot of d/l movies from the net it is most likely an error in the audio encoding and might not be repairable, try using goldwave to convert the sound and save as wav and then use ffmpeg to output to ac3.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  6. this is how I would work:
    - rip audio: using virtualdub, also decompress the audio (audio>full processing mode compression>no compression PCM)
    - encode: using tmpegenc, load dvd template, then unlock template, select 'audio only' hit start. Now you have an mp2 wich you can import in any DVD authoring software
