  1. Well...the olive oil didn't work!! Or maybe it was that I wasn't patient enough to let it work. I went to the ENT doctor and they poored something in my ear that felt more like fire than anything...still didn't do anything. They blasted me with water..nothing...they tried sucking (the wax out) and nothing would work...THEN FINALY...RELIEF!! The one blast of water that did it...it took AGES!! Anyway, I haven't had the proper use of my right ear for about a week and now I feel a weee bit dizzy. Hope this is normal!?

  2. A couple of things you could try with your freshly removed ear wax plug ...

    1. Save it and make a key chain fob out of it and give it as a gift to your girlfirend.

    -- or --

    2. You could also grate it like parmesian cheese over pasta. Ummm!

Just some thoughts. Seems a waste to just throw it out !!

I recommend 'Waxsol' ear drops from the drug store or chemist and this one is very good to clear wax. Two nights before going to bed is enough to fix.

Well, if I lived in any place other than Japan, I probably could get it. But here, when I mention anything that has to do with the ears, all they recommend is going to the ENT doctor. I think they are quick to spend money. They pay like 20 bucks and get the royal treatment!!! Perfectly clean...anyway, I am not covered under the government healthcare so I pay the full price of about 50 bucks!!

It may take some time for you to feel and hear normal. The ear contains your vestibular system, which provides your brain with much of your balance and position information (this is why you are feeling dizzy). It is the same part of the body that fools pilots (under instrument conditions or at night) into thinking they are flying straight and level when they are actually in a slow descending spin or heading straight for the ground.

It's also what makes you feel sick when you ride those damn teacups at Disney!

  7. You didn't let the olive oil work long enough...

If you had a hard impacted bit of wax, it takes a few days for it to soften...

  8. Thanks for the help with the olive oil though...I wanted to wait, but just couldn't!! I started to get a ringing in my ear...and it was pissing me off. In related news, they didn't let me keep the mass. They looked at me and said "Let's just throw it away"

  10. Wusses. Get some wire and dig it out. If you happen to
peforate the tympanic right through the mastoid and
develop a vacant stare while drooling, it will only aid your
    post whore efforts.

Now that OT has covered gentlemens gel and ear wax can
we please move on to toe jam?

Yeah. I had plans for it - desiccate it like jerky and make a necklace for her. She didn't see the appeal

You probably will feel a little dizzy. I don't know why but added or relieved pressure from earwax buildup, as well as breathability, tends to send your balance for a loop after a while. I guess you've adjusted through the slow build-up and after it's gone so quickly, you need to readjust. Not sure why it's that way. Happens to my wife all of the time. She's gets a bit dizzy or nausiated a few moments after using Q-tips. I'm not a biologist, but apparently it affects your balance.

I broke my eardrum several years ago while wakeboarding. I was kinda dizzy for awhile. It shouldnt last too long, especially if you have no hearing loss or whistling. You should no if they perforated the drum. Did they scope it after the procedure?

  16. One time my ENT took it out with a tool that has a small wire loop on it...

Most over the counter ear drop stuff is just hydrogen peroxide.

I did have that problem last year on a severe ear infection. I was unable hear normally at all for two weeks with severe dizziness.

I couldn’t even able to use the ear drops in the right ear as this would make the dizziness worse.

I did find that ‘Waxsol’ ear drops worked in the left ear in a few days.

My head as spinning and I have to get to bed so many times due to the infection and taken me a long time to recover.

The dizziness came and goes for six months to December 2003 and I still have an occasional the discomfort in the right ear even today.

A clump of dried wax came out of my right ear early of the New Year. It was a size of a stone or a size of a small coin.

I can’t rest that side of my head on the pillow to sleep or to wear a hearing aid on the right due to the discomfort.

I blame my hearing aid blocking the ear with wax building up over the years and poor ventilation at the local gym where the head infection has spread in the community.

I have heard stories of so many people having the same illness everywhere at the time last year.

The ‘Waxsol’ ear drops are only recommended on normal wax treatment and not for severe infection in the ear.

The ear infection and the dizziness can take a long time to get better.

I have to make sure that I don’t get a cold and this can be a problem in the head too.

This is the update on the 'world's hairiest man'. An operation to restore his hearing in the ear.

The cause of deafness isn't wax for him.

Part of the skin of the external auditory canal is innervated by the vagus nerve. Stimulate that and you will feel nauseous.
