I'd like to be able to put a blank DVD+R in my burner and a commercial movie in my DVD-ROM when I go to work in the morning, and come home with a successfully backed up movie. I understand that I could do this with DVD Shrink IF it has no encrpytion errors.
Decrypter has been able to get through any disc that Shrink can't, so is there anyway to have Decrypter do its thing, and then have Shrink automatically (while I'm gone) open up the decrypted files and burn the movie? Or do you have some other suggestions that allows me to make this a one-step process?

what's the big rush to copy a DVD if you own the originals anyway?
why not just rip with DVDDecrypter (5 seconds to start) and then DVDShrink when you get another minute sometime in the day?
The morale of this post is that you do not have to be staring at the process bar when it's processing -
1) Assumes that DVD Shrink is able to transcode/rip the movie and that you have Nero
- DVD Shrink is capable of (well with a few clicks) ripping and burning a movie
2) DVD XCopy again, is capable of ripping and burning movies
If I really understand your post however, you want a one click GO (rip and burn) solution.
I cannot think of anything off the top of my head. Theoretically I suppose you could write a batch file? or even a simple program that can do it for you. ie use script it to go through the clicks.
Hope that helps... -
MackemX -- I have a couple hundred DVDs I need to backup. I'd like to be able to do about 3 per day and I have a busy schedule. My plan is to be able to let one burn while I'm at work. Come home and pop in the next movie while I go to school at night. And then pop in the 3rd movie when I come home from school and let it burn at night.
I don't have the time or attention span to come back and check on the computer every 20 mins to click to the next step or to check to see if DVD Shrink has had an encryption error. Does DVD XCopy work pretty much all the time? -
try using AnyDVD with transcoding programs as that is an all in one solution to click and burn
something like CloneDVD works good with it for the one click solution. It will access the DVD direct and burn the files once it's transcoded them. All you do is load the DVD and set it up and once you click Go it will rip and burn as it thiks it's an unprotected DVD
It doesn't have the same flexibility to quality sharing as DVDShrinkbut it's one option if you have little time

Use Shrink with "Create & Burn ISO using Decrypter" selected. Eventually you will encounter a movie that you'll need to rip with Decrypter 1st, but I think you will find this to be the rare exception.

Any reason why not to use this method?

I personally haven't tried this, but why not get a d/l recorder and do a disc-disc copy?

the price of media is still expensive for most to pay and it's not exactly 100% successful for everyone at the minute even 1:1's

If you are looking to do some 'one-click' backups of your DVDs while you are at work.
You know what would be really cool!? Batch Backing up. Rip all DVDs to Hard Drive using DVDDecrypter. And then just Batch Back up to ISOs and burn when back from work. Also, a shut down when done option.
Does such a thing exist? Batch transcoding/authoring?? -
Can you do iso read and iso write with one command line in DVD Decrypter, or do you need 2 lines? If you need 2 lines, do you have to close the app first or will it automatically jump to the next phase without being closed?

Yes.
STEP ONE: Buy another one when you buy the first one.
Otherwise, no. Not really, not flawlessly.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Not even batch ISO read / ISO write with decrypter and DL drive / media?

I use a dvd recorder. Put in dvd in source player, push play, push record on dvd recorder & that's it. Next day just do this again as I can get 4 hours of decent video on one dvd. Have to put a title on.

If you can't get it to do it, 2-programs are necessary and I think you'll survive the 15 minute wait in the morning while you're showering or whatever for DVDDecrypter to do its thing, then just have it encode while you're gone. -

Yeah, but a window just comes up with DD that you have to click to get it to write. Why can't DD do it automatically? -

Maybe I need to get off my ass and built a quickly little vb app that will simulate the mouse click on the burn button or something instead of whining. -
DVDDecrypter does burn it for you just fine, plenty automatically. DVDShrink is even nice enough to close itself down when it's done, then kicks off DD automatically, then when I come back in however long it's burned.
Try your settings before blaming the programs, since the feature is most definitely there. -
Yep, it works auto for me also.....but that's not the problem.
Here is the senario......
Original disc in drive 1
Blank disc in drive 2.
Start program and have it rip dvd in drive 1, select just the movie, select one audio track (dd 5.1 prefered), compress it, save it as an ISO on another HD, and burn it to drive 2.
Do that unattended, with one click.
I don't think so, but maybe Im just stupid.
