DVD Decrypter has command line switches for that. You may have to use two lines though (don't think anyone got back to me on that yet.) I also get the same basic results with DVD X Copy Xpress.

Try writing a macro. There's some free macro recorders on download.com that can basically mimic a batch process.

Otherwise, put your DVDs in a lockable cabinet so that you can backup at your leisure.

And what is it with the messed-up kids? I have kids, but:

    1. They couldn't destroy the DVDs (tax records, good china) because they were out of reach or locked up.
    2. They (now) ask before veiwing the discs.

(The following may not apply to the original poster, so hold the flames)

What is it with the lame "backup" excuses lately? (or maybe not-so-lately)
Maybe not "excuses" per se, but more like explanations:

-"I ripped the DVD rental *cough* I mean original, now I no longer have it, and the burned files refuse to play..."
-"I have a ton of DVDs to backup. What's the best way? This has nothing to do with my recent hiring at Blockbuster."
-"I downloaded Spider-Man 2. How do I burn it to DVD to watch on my TV?"

Basically, too much information for a simple question.
We don't need to know the title of your download. We don't need to know how many kids you have. We do not need to know that your dog ate the original. These bits of information do not help us solve your problem.

Again, this is not directed at anyone in particular. Just some zany Pavlovian reaction

  4. Kool-Aid: Aside from dragging the movie and audio over in Shrink's reauthor mode, it's one click for the rest of it.

  5. Exactly.

Now, if there was someone home that could drag those files, I'd be set.

  6. For my post, it sounds like I was missing the part, where I do a command line with DVDDecrypter to automatically burn the resulting file. I will do some searching for it (dvddecrypter may already have this info) and post back the results. With the way I have it, I rip with one drive, then burn with the other, but I have to manually press the burn button on dvddecrypter to make it work.

I just read that comment and how lazy is that I remember the days when it was ALL manual (dvd ripping I mean ). If anyone wants to save me from the extremely difficult task of doing the google search :P , please post the process for auto burning with dvddecrypter, otherwise I will take the 30 seconds out and report back the findings.

You can view the DVD Decrypter Readme file in it's Program Folder. Also, you can open a command prompt and navigate to the folder you have it installed in and type dvddec~1/?

hey manof steel this is what I use to backup dvds. It takes about an hour per dvd.

    1) you will need DVD Shrink, and Nero 6 (or any other burning software).
    OPTIONAL: Daemon Tools.

Solution 1: If you have a DVD Rom AND a DVDR Drive

    2) Put in the original DVD in your DVD rom. THen put a DVD R cd in yout dvd r recorder. Open up Dvd Shrink, click on Open Disc.

3)Now choose the Drive (your DVD Rom Drive which you have the Original DVD on)

4)It will take a few moments to analyze the DVD. THen, it will give you this screen:

Take out other language tracks (if needed) by Unchecking them from the right. All you have to make sure is that the DVD is under 4.7 GB (4.5 just to be safe) Take out whatever is needed. If the extras are too much space, then take out some things from them.

    5) Now click on the Backup! button on the top of the screen. Now you will be shown this:

Click on the arrow and choose your DVDR Drive to burn the Disc:

Then Your Nero Software will burn the compilation for you. wait about 20 minutes (or depending on how fast your burner is). You will have your Backup ready then. Enjoy!

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Solution 2: If you ONLY have a DVDR Drive

Requirements: about 5 GB space to spare for temporary Files, and Nero 6

Follow Step 1, and in 2: Instead of putting your original DVD in a dvd rom, put it in your DVD R Drive. Open up Dvd Shrink, click on Open Disc.

    3) Now choose the Drive (your DVDR Drive which you have the Original DVD on)

    4) It will take a few moments to analyze the DVD.

Then choose from the selection DVD ISO Image:

Then you must Choose a path to place the ISO Image (remembering that you need near 5 gb) then click ok.

    6) When you are finished making the Image, take out the DVD and put in a DVD+/-R Disc (depending on your computer).

    7) Open up Nero, First cancel the Wizard, then on the top click on recorder, and click on Burn Image:

Find the place where you made the Image, and then click on it and click ok. It will start burning on your DVD R Media Disc. It finishes in about 25 minutes (DEPENDING on your dvd burner and disc). WHen its done DELETE the ISO Image off of your computer. Then, take the newly made DVD and put it in a Dvd player and watch .

Gosh, you must be having a warehouse to store all these DVD's. I am having trouble in managing just about a 90 originals in my apartment. You already have 200 and wish to create backups as well!
