  1. Did anybody ever find a solution to the 'warped screen' capturing problem that plagued the ATI AIW Radeon 7500 when trying to capture from some old VHS tapes?

Essentially, depending on the source material, the card doesn't like some tapes and the image warps uncontrollably, but ONLY on certain tapes in some places and having NOTHING to do with macrovision...
I looked into this over a year ago and no one could come up with anything... just hoping there's been a change since then.

By the way, when capturing with VCD burning in mind, what's the best settings (audio/video) when using said card?
    Thanks!

  2. You need a TBC(either VCR or standalone),go to www.digitalfaq.com for more info.

As for VCD I would use white book specs:1150kbps video,224kbps audio.
If your DVD player supports XVCD then capture 1800 video and 256 audio...of course you won't be able to put as much on a CD.

I can' help you with the vhs capture problems but as far as capture settings just visit www.digitalfaq.com. Lordsmurf has some great guides written specifically for ati cards.

I don't think it is just the AIW Radeon 7500. I have the problem on my AIW Radeon 7500 and my AIW Radeon.

I bought a Dazzle 150 USB. It captures those same videos with no problem. The Dazzle 80 USB still showed some distortion on some tapes but not as much as the ATI card. The Pinnacle USB Movie Box froze when trying to capture these "bad" tapes.
