Hello, I posted this question in another forum and someone suggested thay I put it here. I recently purchased an Epson r200 and printed a few discs, the
quality was pretty good, but I'm sure that it could be better. I am using
Ritek g03 discs ( fron Neweggs promo) I was wondering if anybody knows the best setting for this printer/ disc combo?

Also, I read somewhere about spraying the discs with clear paint, is this
a recommended step? Does it make the ink last longer? if so, how long after
a disc is printed should you wait before you spray it?

I have been using labels for years but this approach might be the way of the future.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I wil go with trial and error,
but there seem to be many helpful and knowledgable people here, thanks

  2. If you are using high quality images to print to your disc, you shouldn't see too much room for improvement. You disc are only as good as the image you use. Low to mid quality image is not good to look as good as if you use a high quality.

Yes, you may want to buy a can of Krylon Crystal Clear brand acrylic coating (1303) from an arts supply store. If you have a disc that came out really nice and you want to keep it that way. I would wait 24 hours after printing before doing the clear spray. One light coat, and then another after a few hours. I put a piece of paper over the spindle of the discs to keep it clean and free of the coating, as it gets handled in the player. This will give your discs the pro look and seal the printing job well.

Here's a sample of printing in a BeAll 4x (DVD-R). After its printed with my R200, I spray the surface with an acrylic sealer. Looks perfect (or real close!).

For some reason, I can't seem to see my image that I uploaded. Here's another sample, this time using Silver Printable ProDisc 4x dvd-r media. I've started switching to them, since they look sharp and are a little less expensive.

OK, I adjusted my printer settings and now get excellent results with
the white printables. Today, I tried Ridatas silver printables that I got
from Newegg, and must say they are absolute garbage, I tried changing
all sorts of settings for these but no luck! The discs don't seem to take the
ink, has anybody run into this problem? Unfortuneatly, I have 45
more of these! so I have to figure out a way to use them other than
putting labels on them - the reason for a new printer in the first place.
It's been about an hour now that I printed my samples and the ink
seems to have faded to the point that I have lots of dots - still legible,
    but man are they crappy.

As usual, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
