  1. i have an HP notebook p4 2.8ghz and came with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000

my question is, can REGULAR non-mobility cards (like geforce 6800, ati radeon 9800) be installed on this notebook?

or do i need to get the ATI Mobility radeon 9800?

because i dont see the mobility cards at bestbuy or circuitcity.

Even if the slot was the same it won't fit there huge, matter of fact the GeForce is probably about as thick as your notebook if not thicker and weighs almost as much. I have a Geforce 5950 and I'll bet the damn thing weighs about 3 or 4 pounds.

Generally those cards are built in for good. I've never seen (though I've never looked) laptop video cards for sale anywhere. The other issue with changing a laptop video card is heat and power issues. Laptops are usually built to handle what was in them when they were made, they start getting flaky when you try to modify them. There are a couple manufacturers that are an exception to this though, but not any of the big ones.

ATI and nVidia have introduced two competing "standards" for exchangeable mobile graphics cards. Those "standards" are few months old, so they aren't used yet and they may become technologies with great future behind

I think Dull has, or had, one laptop model with exchangeable graphics. Of course, it's not AGP or PCI(-E), likely to be proprietary connector.
