This is probably the second best place I have ever worked! They take great care of the employees, good benefits, free snacks and Friday lunches, and shorts and t-shirts year round!

I absolutely loathe physical labor, and any place that lacks air conditioning in Arizona, and I don't make much money, yet this is probably the best job I've ever had.
I've decided 32 hours a week is just about perfect. -
I really like my job, must do I have been here nearly 16 years. I consider myself very lucky to have found a job that I enjoy and which is extremely varied and flexible. Most of my friends work on production lines and loath their jobs, considering the large proportion of your life you spend at work, this can't be good.

I like mine.....
I can be here all day and also search for a house at the same time
Too bad Baldrick doesn't have a timer so we can see who's logged on the most -
Mine is a split decision.
While I do like teaching and I have say June July and August definitely has it's advantages. I like the kids...all of them, I never really have any problems to speak of...maybe 2 kids in 8 years.
The thing that I absolutely hate is that I have to continually go back to school. That simple little fact has sent a burr up my ass and to be quite blunt about it I think it's ******* horse shit. Give me a break. Algebra 2 has not changed one bit in the last 200 years, and it won't be changing in the next 200 years. I went to college, I pulled my 4 year degree in 3.5 years. I spent $52,000 to get a $20,000 a year job. Now I have to go back and pay $390+ per semester hour because some bureaucrat thinks its a good ******* idea.
Kids are kids you egominiacal pieces of shit. Treat them like real people instead of children, be personable and friendly with them, be a real person complete with mistakes and flaws, get to know them, listen to them AND THEY WILL LISTEN TO YOU AND SUBSIQUENTLY LEARN FROM YOU
Cocksuckin mother fuckers kiss my ass, as I live on Macaroni and Cheese this month because I had to pay $1024 for one ******* class that I have to take because you mother fuckers passed some agreement with some retarded jackass union rep who wants to move up when one of you mother fuckers retire.
Some want to know "why" wouldn't you want to pursue lifetime learning?? Well it's like this, you have to get your master's degree and that does give you more money. Teacher's salaries are rated on years taught. So as an 8th year teacher with a B.S. I make right at $40,000. However, if you are ever needing to change jobs or wanting to change jobs other school districts won't hire you because of how much you would cost. Or they will hire you but will only pay you for 5 of your years of experience. I can't blame them, why the **** would they hire someone in at 50K when they can hire snot nose dumbfuck straight out of college for 22K? This is the absolute major reason that math positions throughout the country are going unfilled. You better listen up education institutions of America...there are 1000s of social studies and english teachers unemployed every year. If you lose one of them you can replace them the next day. Where as if a math teacher walks out the door of your school, he will have another job by 8:00 am tomorrow and you might be 2 years filling his position.
I have been on the extreme edge of turning my math B.S. into an engineering degree. I mean hell, I have to take 14 classes to get my masters to make 50K, why not take 6 classes, become an engineer and make 80K?
You know, I changed schools 4 years ago. I obviously teach math, and I am pretty good at it (at least by state standards) when I decided to change jobs I sent out 4 resume's. I had 19 schools call me on the phone and offer me a job on the spot. Sight unseen
Now I know I'm a pretty desent teacher and my kids learn, but I'm not the Michael Jordan of math teachers. The school I am at now is one that I sent a resume to, I went in for an interview, they offered me the job on the spot. I told them I would think about it. The whole problem is when a math teacher goes in for an interview, the school is not interviewing him. He is interviewing them.
I interviewed at a school, I was in there and they started asking me a bunch of retarded questions...like "when you divide fractions WHY do you flip the one you are dividing by"....shit like that....I played their game for a while, then finally the head of the math department started talking about memberships into mathematical organizations and shit. I stood up, looked at the Principal and said "I'm sorry to have wasted your time but I cannot work here." he said "why not?" and I said "because I am not working with goober boy here and he is the head of your math department" Now I thought I left that interview in kind of a negative fashion....do you know that they called me, appologized and offered me a job
So do I like my job...yea, I like it. Tell me what you want me to teach, where you want me to teach it, give me some books and send the kids and I promise you they will leave my room having learned the subject. As for all the other bullshit I would certainly like to see a giant tornado sweep through the country and suck up every jackass administrator or politician who has never stepped foot in a classroom and dump their retarded punk asses in the middle of the Atlantic with 3000 lb lead blocks melted on to each foot. Bastards. -
Can't say as I disagree with you, Northcat.
My mother has been teaching for something like 30 years. She's a PhD candidate as soon as she decides to put forth the effort, and I think she's got another Masters degree to boot. And Arizona says she needs 180 hours of 'education' every other year to maintain her 'standing' as a certified teacher.
What, 30 years of teaching kids doesn't count for anything? To say she's qualified to teach history and government is an understatement, and she could nail any state aptitude test they could throw at her. Total horseshit that she had to give up part of her summer to 'learn' how to be a more 'educated' teacher.
People wonder why nobody wants to teach anymore. Here's just one small slice of the pie, folks. -
Sounds like a fucked up teacher system you have there.
I don't mind my part time job. For the most part the managers don't have a clue what they are doing but the other people their make it a good place to work. Pays shit though but the work itself isn't exactly hard. -
I enjoy what I do... but, alas, I don't trust my manager or his manager regarding my job security. Last two years I have made it through about 8 rounds of layoffs so I know my skills are desired .... but I still don't trust 'em. Shame really

I enjoy my job immensely. After I graduated high school I worked chicken shit jobs for a while before "seeing the light" and going back to school. One job was as head teller at a motor bank. 32 hours a week, but the pay was abysmal.
Went back to school and had the right attitude by then. I didn't waste my time or the college's, and pulled a 4.0 GPA and graduated first in my class. It turns out that it was a good thing because where I work, you won't even get an interview if your GPA is lower than 3.5.
I wouldn't trade for anything (well, being the lotion boy for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition shoot would have to win out - even if I were unpaid). Where else am I going to find a job, making more money than I have any right to, and able to post to my heart's content? I count my blessings every day

I have just finished my second day at a new job. I woke up at 5.00am on the train at 5.50am in the office at seven, I finished at 8.00pm and got home about 9.30pm. I have had a shave, about to have a shit, no chance of sex, check this board out then off to bed.
It had better get better cause what is the point earning excellent cash if I never get a chance to spend it. -
Thats a long day

My job is decent. I enjoy the work. I actually do several different things. I'm a financial officer, network technician, and the Physical labor for moving furniture around the office. I don't see as many clients as the rest of the office, but I have a large base salary and get small commissions on top. Everyone else is straight commissioned. Sucks to be them. I can sit on my a** and still get a decent amount of money. Basically what I'm doing right now, only more Post Whorring and I wouldn't have a client pipeline.
ideally I'd like to further my Broadcasting degree and look into running a station or starting an independent filimg and sound company. I have the business and management skills, along with a top notch eye and ear for A/V. The only problem is I get the ideas, but am very poor with the art and my instrumental background is 9 years of piano lessons (from age 5) and 7yrs. percussion (starting in Highschool) that I have long forgotten after 15+ years away from it. -

Anyway, enough of my whining. Where's Indolikaa's 106 Part II?

I like my job. Been with the same company for 23 years. I actually work for a living and that's the way I like it. I probably make more money than you pencil pushers, but I have to do manual labor. I'll be eligble for a full retirement when I hit 50. That would depend on the finacial outlook then, since I took a beating in the stock market the past few years.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........ -
Pencil pushers? Thems fightin' words....

@ Shocker Milwaukee,
Actually, I worked in construction for about 4 years. I've ran just about any piece of equipment you can think of, all the way up to the D-8 Dozers and 245 Cat excavators. For a while, I also ran my own Pipe Crew. They gave me the plans and I put it all in the ground.Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........ -
Just playin', racer-x. Much respect. Just remember, you're not alone.

I like my job because i work with dysfunctional families, yes the drug addicts and crackheads! i work in social services and i often ask myself why am I still working in this field. especially when the pay is peanuts. then it hits me that it's those innocent children who did not ask to be born with drugs in their system or the children who are neglected or not fed any food because their parents are out getting high or dealing drugs, that's what keeps me grounded in my job. as a cop once told me, your job is like a policeman's job, somebody's gotta do it.
then you got your supervisors and adminstrators who have fingers up there buttholes because they think they know it all. their egos are inflated and they are power and control freaks and they tend to forget these dysfunctional families are human beings. not a fucken number on a case record. it's disgusting to have to work with some that have ego trips and it blinds there ablity to make sound decisions for some of the families we work with. working with people is not the easiest job let alone working with dysfunctional families where most in addition to drug addiction have some sort of mental health problems as well. also having to work with coworkers that have issues of their own doesn't help matters. try working with a drug addict that also is bipolar & refuses to take their meds. or try reasoning with someone who has a personality disorder or is a paranoid schizoprenic.
to sum it all up i do enjoy and like my job. so now you see why being on a computer at the end of my long work day relieves so much stress. there is a book called, "KODOMO NO TAME NI" means "FOR THE SAKE OF THE CHILDREN". that's the reason why i'm still in social services because it's for the sake of the children.
P.S. sorry if i ranted and went on and on and on!
