  1. I'm trying to burn multiple MPEGs into a compilation VCD.. all files are close to the VCD standard, but some files are 24fps, some 29.97fps.. some are 320x240, some are 352x288... and I don't know how to tell whether they are MPEG-1 or MPEG-2.. assuming that I have convert them all to one specific framerate, should that framerate be NTSC-film, or just NTSC? anyone have a guide on how to make a compilation VCD?

btw, I have adobe premiere at my disposal if it helps..

  2. hmmmmm. i have never tried Mpegs with such a variety. have you tried to burn one as a non-standard just to test? the Mpeg1 and Mpeg2 might be an issue. Mpeg1 is VCD and Mpeg2 is Svcd. this could cause it not to play correctly.......

  3. I think you can mix and match framerates and such on a VCD, the MPEG1 vs MPEG2 won't work though I don't think. The best way to test is to burn ta a CD-rw and test. Then post if it worked (or didn't)

  4. ok... burned it with Nero.. gave a warning that its a deviation from VCD standard compliance, option to ignore or re-encode - I chose to ignore..

I don't own a DVD-player so I have to take it somewhere to find out how it works on a stand-alone.. but I played it in WinDVD. it was recognised as VCD 2.0, and everything plays until the last track, which causes WinDVD to crash... (I checked, and no, i didn't overburn..)

the disagreeable track was a 320x240x30fps (not 29.97) mpg.. although 2 others in that resolution+framerate played.. so i dunno..

btw.. how do I tell whether a file is mpeg-1 or mpeg-2?

  6. Just a suggestion, but try using VCDEasy (from the tools section), NERO is renound for having problems with VCD creation, so most people switch to this. It's leterally a case of adding MPEG's and clicking go, but if you click on the advanced section, under tools is a function that will tell you about your mpeg stream, 1vs2 and average bitrate and stuff like that.
