Hey all,
Ok here is a weird question... I have a laptop that does NOT have video "in/capture" capabilities. I was wondering if there is a cable, that would convert from standard video to a USB.
I already have video capture software, however I would like to capture some video from my camera (which has video out) onto my laptop. Is it possible to capture video through a USB port when I have video capture software?
Thx

You need more than just a cable. Sure, there are video capture devices that can connect to a USB input.
It's better if you have USB 2.0, though. Do a Google search for 'USB capture devices' and you should see quite a few.

I have the ADS Tech DVD Xpress UBS 2.0 that does a good job.
It also has hardware Mpeg 2 capture. When I bought it 7-8 months ago it was selling for about $100 US. You can probably find it online cheaper than that. It has all of the software that you need to get started. Some people have complained of lock-ups when capturing for long periods of time but I have not had any problems. -
Another choice is the Plextor M402U. The quality is great.
Works well with my Toshiba laptop.
