I just installed a new DRU-540, below is the message sent to Sony support

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Model: DRU-540A installed as master on IDE2
    Serial: 5024208
    OS: Window XP Pro
    Syst: P4 2.4Ghz on a Gigabyte GA-8I848PL Motherboard
    Power Supply: 450w Enermax

Ok on to the problem, after burning a DVD and removing the disk the drive won't recognize a CD when inserted (it will read and burn DVD, but not CD) until the system in powered off and turned back on (RESTARTING WINDOWS MAKES NO DIFFERENCE)

This is the second DRU-540 that has performed this way, I returned the first one to Circuit City for a replacement. As both of these have this problem new out of the box I'm thinking design flaw. Are you aware of any upcoming firmware updates that will address this problem? If not what is your recommendation to resolve this issue.

    Looking forward to your response
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone with a DRU-540A please try this on yours and see if it does the same thing and please let me know either way (works or doesn't) by responding here in the forum or by private message. Thanks

Too early in the game to have to deal with design flaws. I'd go for another model altogether.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.
