  1. Hey folks,

I'm hoping somebody can help me. I just can't seem to make any progress with this problem. I'm using Premiere 6.0 on a Mac to edit my DV camcorder footage. I'm exporting my movies from Premiere into Quicktime movie files. I've then tried to open these in TMPGenc (using Virtual PC 4.0 & Win9 to encode them, but it doesn't accept the files. I've installed Quicktime into the Win98 environment but that didn't seem to help. I've also tried encoding the files using Cleaner 5 on the Mac. I created MPEG2 files in Cleaner 5 and then tried to use those directly with TSCV, but that didn't work either. I also tried to remerge the separate video and audio files that Cleaner 5 creates by 'muxing' them in TMPGenc, but that didn't work either.

The only thing that I've been able to do successfully is create MPEG1 streams in Cleaner 5 and open them in TSCV. No other combinations of things have enabled me to open the Mac files using any of these Windows tools. I know people here do it regularly, so hopefully someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

    Thanks,
    Chris

  2. why would you do that?

just export your movies into AVI frormat (NOT QUICKTIME) and encode them with TMPGenc
it will make your life a lot easier

if you must use quicktime you can export into AVI from there also but will also loose quality since Quicktime is a piece of shit!

  3. Hi,

AVI is not an export option in Premiere on the Mac. I think I also tried taking the exported movie from Premiere and opening in Quicktime and saving it as an .avi, but TMPGenc didn't like that for some reason either.

I also can't understand why TMPGenc won't recognize the MPEG2 streams created by Cleaner5.

    I'm going nuts with this.

    Thanks,
    Chris

  4. Did you remember to add QTReader to the TMPGEnc folder?

If that doesn't work, just convert the QT file you created in Premiere as an AVI in QuickTime Player.

  5. Tyler,

Yep, I've got the QTReader installed. I've also tried opening the Premiere movie in QTPro on the mac and saving it as an .avi file. TMPGenc did not like that either. I was able to load it using the browse button, but when I hit Start, I got the error message saying that it couldn't open or is unsupported.

The annoying thing is that after I get an error message like that I have to shut down my Virtual PC Windows and restart because after that I can't open anything since I get a "too many files are open" message.

    ...still trying.

    Thanks,
    Chris
