I got a spool of Maxell -Rs from Futureshop the other day and the E80H won't burn them at all. The E3 -Rs and old Maxell MXL media code discs still work fine though. Any recommends on other discs that work well with this recorder?

have you checked the media codes on that spindle you got from futureshop? i wouldn't be surprised if they're manufactered by RITEK. take a look at this thread about 50 pack spindles of MAXELL DVD-R.

I did. they are Taiyo Yuden and definitely won't work my E80H. I tried 2 now and they do the same thing, get part-way into the burn and just fail. I'm thinking it's an old burner/firmware issue which Panasonic hasn't addressed even though many other manufacturers supply firmware upgrades so their drives can handle new media. I'm thinking these discs will work fine in a newer drive like the one found inthe E85H...

Accus work great. Anything meritline.com suggests for it works great. But I use accus. Also: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters
