hi
i was hoping somenone could help me.
I use DVD Shrink 3.1 & have had no problems with it whist copying 50 or something dvds in the past, but after trying to ‘Open Disc’ the film Mean Streets onto my computer, a Copy Protection Error message pops up.
The actual message displayed is this…
‘Copy Protection Error - The given sector does not have a valid CSS key’
It also happened on the 2nd disc of The Office Series 1.
If anyone could help me by telling me I could try different, it would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks.

That happened to me once, and the disc was scratched.
You might be able to get around it by using dvddecrypter. -
i've just tried dvddecrypter, and it wont even load the disc up. another error message comes up, more or less saying the same.
-
The disc is probably scratched. You could try to resurface it.

There are things you can use like brasso to resurface and armor-all to polish
You can use toothpaste.
You can also use a disc doctor repair kit. -
cheers for the help, but the dvd was actually brand new. and as far as i can see there is no scratches or marks on the underside of the cd. i lent it to my friend this morning just to check, and it seemed to work fine on his. he too uses dvd shrink 3.1 & nero.

CPE happens cause you have Nero on the machine either open or you asked shrink to write with it. Get a version that writes with dvddecrypter & it should take care of this.
