    Hello,
I believe I have exactly what your talking about. Does it have bold red letters saying DVD RIPPER on the top? It will make backups of your personal dvd collection. It's not a bad tool. It will convert to divx (though to an older codec I think, just install the newer one and I think you'll be ok).

Just follow the instructions and you'll be ok. I DON'T know if works in WIN XP however. I would imagine it will. If you've already opened it use it. If not wait for other posts to confirm it for sure. I'm running Win 2000 though I haven't tried the program since I upgraded from Win 98.

P.S. Just like any converting it will take a LOOONG time and it reads straight off the disc ONLY. You can't convert .vobs on the harddrive with it (as far as I can remember).

Edit - It will also do vcd and svcd (as well as a version of xvcd - though the hybrid vcd will have less compatiblity)
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  4. Yoda thats the exact one. One question though, does it make the copy protected dvds unprotected?

    Hello,
Yes it unprotects them. But it will not let you convert it to dvd-r. You need a dvd burner and dvd shrink or another transcoder for that. Just remember this will take time to convert. Anything does.

P.S. If you read the package it only converts dvd to divx, svcd, vcd and xvcd.

    daballplaya2125,

I bought the same program at Walmart. I think it's DVD Magic even though the package just says DVD Ripper. It works pretty good. I don't know if it works on XP or not, but would guess it does. Someone said that it won't read files off the HD. Well, I have had it read them. Select where the target "ripped" files are. It may give you an error message, but it will work. It will take a long time to process.
