  1. When I encode 5.1 AC3 AVIs to NTSC DVD, should I be encoding to 23.976 with 3:2 pulldown or to 29.97?

The reason I ask is - although I realize 23.976 with pulldown is preferred, my audio does not sync up properly. I've had fewer problems just encoding straight to 29.97.

Does this make sense or is there something I am missing?

    Thanks for any help

The way I do it is:

    a) Demux the AC3 with VDubMod (after joining/appending the avi's if spread over more than one file).

    B) Run the resulting AC3 file thru a software DVD player to check all is OK (you can also use AC3FIXGUI to check the AC3.... it doesnt hurt to do it anyway).

    C) Convert video to (elementary video) m2v with either CCE, TMPG or whatever, at the same frame rate as the original file (23.97)

    D) Use PULLDOWN.exe to go from 23.97 to 29.97.

    E) Author to an folder (check everythings OK with a Software DVD player..by pointing at the first .ifo file)

    F) Burn and play!

    Never fails for me.
