  1. I'd like to author a DVD using 48kHz wav as the audio. Can DVDauthor not handle wav files or is it a front end limitation? I have been using GUI for DVDauthor.

I've used wavs in DVDAuthor with no problem. I've never used the GUI though.

  3. Are you operating in DOS/Windows or another OS such as Linux?

  4. is this for tmpgenc dvd author? or is this another program? if it's tmpgenc then you can use wav files. i put a live performance from agents of oblivion on dvd, ripped to pc, extracted the audio, edited it and used dvd author to author the two together.

  5. No, just DVDauthor, not "TMPGenc DVD Author". It's a set of tools originally designed for Linux, ported over to DOS, and some Windows GUIs have been written for it.

Dvdauthor can definitely handle lpcm audio with no trouble whatsoever. The problem is finding a multiplexing tool that can handle multiplexing lpcm audio. Mplex can, but it must be a raw lpcm stream, not a wav file.

Hey Liquid, any chance of seeing lpcm support in GUI for DVDauthor in the near future?

If you are referring to gui for dvdauthor, you may want to ask borax, who wrote that gui. I wrote dvdauthorgui. (Yes it is confusing). I haven't been able to get mplex to work with a standard wav files, unless someone knows what it is that i am not doing right. The mjpegtools people could add in a patch that allows mplex to accept a wav file, but that is in their hands.

DVDAuthorGUI can always accept pre-multiplexed vobs, so if you use another tool (like ifoedit) to multiplex, and then import those vobs into the gui.

  10. Sorry, I did mean dvdauthorgui.

So if I convert the wav audio to pcm, will dvdauthorgui be able to handle it, or do I have to bring in vobs? I tried bringing in vobs in the past and had difficulty setting up chapters.
