Ritek DVD+R 4X at Newegg are R03 media, WATCH OUT

I just recieved 100 of these Ritek DVD+R and they are the R03 8X media instead of the usual Ricoh. These things are a perfect match for the Liteon 812S and even though the rebate is over, 50 cents for 8X is a good deal. As always, you may get a different media. Be warned before you order.

ALERT: While these may be R03 media code they will not burn well at 8X (Liteon 812S and 832S firmware). Even after 3 patched firmware changes I get errors in the 600 range with Kprobe. They burn well at 4X with errors in the 30s.

R03s are also noted as very good on my burners. These do not seem to be REAL R03s.

The original rebate is over but a new rebate has begun. (If you want to call it new...)

The price is now 37$ after rebate. Almost in the "crap media" range. So.. even if it isn't a good R03, I think it's worth trying.
(I don't really care as long as it shows a good 4x burn. Quality is forever while the time gain is just.... 5 min)

They are advertised at 4x - they burn at 4x - so what is the problem?
