  1. I'm trying to convert some mpeg 2 files to dvd but having a problem. Using the Tools feature s/vcd>dvd, the movies are converted to dvd quality (e.g. 48000mhz for the audio). But during this process on my PB Pismo G3 400 mhz OS 10.2.8, each new file creates a .ds_store invisible file. The s/vcd>dvd feature does not give you the option of changing the location of the output files. SOOO when ffmpegx is processing the mpegs, they get demuxed and muxed properly but then find these .ds_store files and the process FAILS because the .ds_store files are not valid mpegs.

Does anyone know how to stop ffmpegx from creating .ds_store files or a work around? Much appreciated. I'm basically looking for an easy way to move mpeg 2 files onto a dvd to watch on my stand-alone dvd player. I read quite a few threads that say you can't simply make mpeg 2 files multi track images though there seems to be a way to do this on the PC.

    Thanks.

Never had that problem, but ...
DS_Store Terminator or Cocktail will delete them from any selected folder, e.g. your source folder. I doubt ffmpegX creates these files though, since they're usually created by manually browsing folders in the Finder.

There are several options on Mac OS X for authoring SVCD (mpeg-2 to multitrack disk images), including ffmpegX. If your player supports SVCD, that is.

  3. Ok, I found the solution. The key is do not have the output folder open in browser or any other mode.

I just made my 1st DVD of 4 mpgs. Works great on my computer but not at all on the stand alone. And it's supposed to be compatible according to the dvd player guide. Oh, well.

Now if only there was a way to create Menus, that would be awesome without having to use Sizzle which takes so much longer...
