    Buy Taiyo Yuden media as they're the best writables you can get, or have your discs pressed - runs start at 500 units.

    The time saved on burning, the pressing may be worthwhile....

  3. Get authoring media & authoring writer or press. Cost about $1,500 or more to have one created for you.

    With burned DVD’s there will always be incompatibilities with some players.

    For example I been burning DVD+R for a while and only one older Panasonic DVD deck refused to read my videos. Also I bough a very old horror movie, (from a company that legally distributes them) and they send it to me on a DVD-R disc. This movie would not play in my father’s DVD player.

  6. Have them pressed professionally if this is cost-effective, or;

    Use hi-quality media and standard-compliant authoring software, minimal menus and PCM audio, burn at low speed, and send out a hi-quality SVHS tape copy along with each disk. Disk alone should get you 80% compatibility, and if the end user has more than one DVD player available, very hi odds of success.

    thanx guys....

    i would rather not have them pressed profesionally for a number of reasons.......money being one and demand being another of the big issues...

    Nelson37...do menues matter?......i was plannig on making a menu to guide people through the tracks...i wont be sending overseas anytime soon so nstc will be standard

    i guess im beat unless i shell out a grand or so for more copies than i need...wish ther was a way for the little guy to press like the big guys

    thanx all

  8. Also, If you're planning on writing a lot of dvd's at 1-2x be prepared to spend a LOT of time in front of your pc, but it's also the cheapest solution.

    Get people to preorder, you'll have a chunk of money upfront that way.

    that is a bold statement that can not be proven .. yes it is good , but no mater what , some players do not play either dvd-r or dvd+r or other burned disk types ..

    authoring media , burned on THE authoring burner is without a doubt the most compatable ..
