I'm currently trying to decide on an LCD monitor for my PC.
Thought I would see what others are using and their opinions of them.
Thanks,
Doug

Unless you looking to save space or just want the cool looking LCD stick with CRT. I personally think they provide a better picture, lot less prone to failure and the best part are less than half the price.

Less power consumption, no image burn, less heat output. No image burn is a big one in my book. More desk space is also great. I've been using a cheap MAG 15 inch LCD for around 2 years, no problems. I got one for my parents about 1 1/2 years ago, still no problems.
Worth every penny so far, at least to me.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
Just to add some information.
This is going on my primary video editing workstation.
The main reason for getting an LCD is that I use 2 monitors and really need the deskspace (dual 19" monitors take up ALOT of space).
I'm concerned about the response rate. Is 25 ms fast enough or do I need to go for one of the 16 ms models?
Also, an 18" monitor would give me the exact real estate that my 19" CRT does, but am I going to be able to tell the difference between it and a 17" LCD?
Thanks,

I have one of these (LINK) that I bought a couple of months ago from CC, now TigerDirect is selling them for $300.00 + Shipping, no rebate necessary.
I have no complaints about it because the price was low, screen is great, speakers a little weak, but the specs are pretty good. 500:1 contrast ratio, 16ms response time, 1280x1024 resolution, .264dp - all in all, not too bad. The brand is Liquid Video, although Tiger doesn't state that in the advertisement.
It's a very good monitor if you don't want to bust the budget but need a 17' LCD. Sure, it's not the top of the line, but for the price, it can't be beat (for an LCD, that is). One thing, make sure before purchasing any LCD from an online retailer, find out what the return policy is for dead pixels. If you buy it locally, you can always just take it back, but online, some retailers restrict what you can return it for (such as, there must be more than 8 dead pixels, etc).Ethernet (n): something used to catch the etherbunny -
At the end of last year there were dire predictions about the the supply of lcd dispalys and limited production compared to demand. Turns out that LCD displays are droppioing in price right along the normal trend for consumer electronics.
I believe same specs dropped 10% in the first two quarters of this year alone.
So do read your reviews etc, but expect to pay less if the review is even a few months old.
Moreover prices can swing wquite a bit when retailers or manufacturers decide to disocunt.
I have an Alabatron 17ASD which I bought a year ago, for $357 no tax no shipping from new egg. it is DVI, plus hdtv capable ready with its own TV tuner and remote. response is 15/10, contrast 450-500, 1280 x 1024, 0.264 mm Pixel Pitch 250 bright.
The tv tuner is a nice feature, because although I love my all in wonder, swingin ght monitor from the wall and having a 17 inch stand alone television with the pc off is useful.
We just bought a samsung 19" with the same specs. It was about $200 more but that's because it is 19"
