I just performed a clean Windows XP install. Is it necessary to install video codecs not included in WinXP or as I install video applications (like Real Player, WinDVD, etc) these codecs will be installed?? In case it's recommendable to install the codecs separately, where can I get the latest versions of these codecs? Thanks.

Add the applications you need first. Add codecs if, and only if, you need them. Some of them cause more harm than good.

Yes, you're right. I remember some time ago I had to uninstall the Nimo Codec (or something like that) because it would cause a conflict with WildTangent and with some Transition effects included in Windows Movie Maker.
