Recently bought an E55 and it records fine on DVD-r and DVD-RAM. These DVD-R recordings play fine on my PC and Standalone DVD player. Strange thing is ... any DVD-R's (copies of original DVD's ) recorded on my PC as back-ups won't play on the E55, but the original will.

( I do copies for my cousin .... long story here ... )

Is this something to do with the E55 looking for an encryption that Shrink has taken off?

Message shown is .... No disc !!

    Any ideas m8's ??

  2. Your Panasonic may not like the particular brand of media (DVD-R) that you are using, or there may be some compatibility issues with the burner in your computer.

  3. Try some panasonic media.

My e30 plays everything I put in it. But I only use Accu media for writing in it.

In the future, you can save us time i fyou give us your specs.

The blanks are ARITA (Riteks, G04 dye) and dont have a problem with compatability on other machines. I have also used some TDK DVD-R's as well as the Panasonic DVD-R's and all seem to experience the same problem........the Recorder simply doesn't recognise them......that is why I think it is looking for an encription or encoding and a copied DVD that Shrink etc has taken all encription/region codes etc off. That is why I think the recorder is not seeing these discs.

Any other ideas would be much welcomed.

  6. stupid suggestion, I am full of em.

Burn a copy of the dvd-r that won't play, or use dvd shrink to copy it onto a dvd-rw or dvd+r or +rw, my e55 plays everything, I was amazed.

Will only record onto dvd-r or ram though-sigh.

It may be the programme your using to burn the discs.

I used to use intervideoDVDcopy 2 and some copies would play in some machines but not others, it was really a hit or miss whether they would play in other mahines and it had nothing to do with the discs having used a variety of discs. Some Discs actually played no bother in some machines, some took about 5 minutes to load before they eventually played and others just didn't play at all.

Since i got TMPGEnc DVD author for editing stuff from my E50 on PC and used it's own burning tool, i have not had the problem since.

    Just a thought.

  8. I have an E50 Panasonic DVD recorder and use DVDShrink with Nero 6 to backup to DVD-R. I have two quad-format DVD burners.. a Sony DRU-510A and an LG 4082B. I use both of them, but mostly the LG these days.

No problems playing the DVD-R's on the Panasonic or the other four DVD players I have, either.

Thanks for the tips. Can't see why the burning using NERO should be any different than burning CopyDVD (Which I have been using till now) but I will give it a go and let folks know what happens.

    Thanks M8's

    Well wot can I say.......

I don't understand why but the use of the NERO 6 software to burn the DVD-R's has worked and I can now read/playback the DVD's I've processed on my PC on my Panasonic E55. PROMLEM SOLVED!!!

Many thanks for the tips M8's........
