it says on the website that the demo expires at dec 31st, but when i install it, it says it's already expired.
no offense, that's just complete crap. if the program works like other shareware programs, it probably would have entered in a registry key that wont allow future revisions to work either, and i've never been able to test it! I honestly considered buying it too. what a shame! -
When did you download it?

Just moments before I posted. It took about 10 minutes or so to find it didn't work and come to the board in disappointment.

In case you're wondering, I have tried to redownload the file (same filesize as before btw) and reinstall, but it will only allow a repair of the install. an uninstall and reinstall doesn't work.

For the 99.997% of you that have never done any development work, you don't know how good you got it. This sight has tremendous feedback and support options. The fact that developers read the forums, and offer support is a HUGE benefit.
Of course the flipside is a captive audience that tells you what it wants (assuming they actually know). To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -

Chrissy, an important note you may want to be aware of - the demo expiration that closes the program can be averted by simply clicking on a menu ("Help", for instance) in the small window of time in between the program load and the message pop-up claiming expiration appears. If a menu is open and left open before that pop up appears, once you click "OK", the program will remain open, effectively killing the demo time period. -
The expiry on the demo is less to stop users using it after the date but more so that I provide a new demo with more features. By the time i do a demo the actual FULL version has serveral new features & bug fixes. Certainly when the expiry date comes round there is often major differences between the versions. Thus the expiry date concept lets me provide demos which are closer to the real thing.
If one want to use the demo forever - i'm not bothered. If i was there would be no demo at all.SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

Just a point Chris,
I just started the dvd burning as of 3 days ago and here in the forum i have learned more then i ever did just talking to people online or in person about burning stuff. Figured i should put that in. Anyways the thing is with every new version you produce of svcd2dvd will people who have purchased a previous version be able to upgrade to the newer version as well? Also will your version 2 possibly have a way to change the files from say PAL to NTSC and vise versa as well? Like i said i am new at this stuff but from what i can tell alot of hasle to convert any files from PAL to NTSC. Unless someone out there knows a easy way to change the files to ntsc?
