Once you have installed program on your PC, a registered program, is there a way to find your registration details on your PC, I've seen it done before on some programs, can anyone help?

  2. The simple answer is Yes, No, Sometimes...

All three are valid answers depending on the software.

I have had software that displayes the registration code when you update to a newer version. Other software that shows it in the Help-About screen and other s/w that saves it in My Documents and other s/w where you need special software written for that specific s/w to read it and other s/w that I never found a way.

So to get further help more details such as what software.

Example: Adobe Photoshop CS3 or Norton 360 or TMPGEnc DVD author 3

And then there are programs which required activation in addition to registration to get a fully functional working version (as in photoshop CS). Nowaday, registration is mostly for marketing purpose. Activation is where the game is. For example, I did a MoBo swap due to a system failure, I have to contact Adobe to reactivate Photoshop CS to have it working again.

  4. Too true. I have a customer that is always backing up his hard drives. If it ended there I'd say Bravo!

However he then swaps out the one he just backed up and puts in the one he just created. So then He has to get on the phone to Adobe for Acrobat pro amongst others. I know he's been on the phone to Trend for his antivirus when it dies again I'm sure by now that Adobe and Trend have both lost money on those sales just from the sheer number of calls to support to get it activated again.
