  1. Im using the cucusoft AVI to DVD SVCD VCD MPEG converter, and im trying to convert an avi anime file to mpeg, but its going very slow. About 2 fps.
What Id like to know is, does it usually take about 5 hours to convert a 125mb file? Or is it my computer, or maybe the AVI to DVD MPEG converter program that I am using? Please all help is greatly appreciated!

  2. What is you computer's specs?

When I was doing a test, I was getting about real-time speeds if I remember correctly.

I have a P-M 1.5, so it's not the fastest thing in the world.
    Blah, blah, blah

  3. I got a p3 2.8
    Windows xp

But, is it possible that the encoding rate is dependant upon the file? Like maybe anime goes slower? I dunno...

  4. Hmm, here I thought it would be a TMPGEnc question. Cucusoft ain't exactly the best encoder out there. When I tried it, I got about the same speed as you are getting. Hell, you'll get that kind of speed with bbmpeg, and it's free, not to mention better quality. Nufan must be living right. :P

I'd recommend you spring for TMPGEnc or Cinema Craft encoder. (Haven't tried Mainconcept or Canopus, hear they're good too). If you're fairly sharp and patient, QuEnc (freeware) would be an option. Learning how to write Avisynth (also free) scripts ain't so hard. And if you ask Fulcilives nicely, he might even post some sample scripts for you. He's quite knowledgeable on the subject. Good luck.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!
