  1. I am looking to buy a new computer sometime soon and I was wondering what the minimum / recommended computer specs are. I don't have alot to spend, so I've been looking at a P4 2.5 Ghz / 256 Megs Ram computer. Would this be adequate? What would you recommend? What kind of Graphics card do I need? If I have a firewire card, do I need a capture card?

I'd like to be able to capture in Adobe Premiere.

Thanks in advance for any info you can give

That should be plenty more than enough. I used to capture with a 266Mhz machine so 2.4GB is fine. You will need a capture card for VHS stuff but not for DV Cam stuff (That's what firewire is for). You may or may not want a separate capture card from video card. I think it would be better but probably cost more. Hope this helps.

    Have fun stormin' the castle!

There are many ways to measure success. You just have to find your own yardstick.

  4. Two hard drives will improve the through put when processing video. I have two 80 gig drives C: drive is the main system drive on the pri IDE and another (F 80 gig drive on the secondary IDE both with the DMA active.
The reason to do this is so that system activies will not slow down video access to the HD.
I think that you should consider at least 512 meg (or more) of ram.

Better to have 512meg if you want to use Premiere. If you need to have analog input, then I suggest you a TV tuner card.
