  1. Hi , i try since monday to record a VHS format NTSC on DVD with my DVD recorder Panasonic DMR-E55 ( the Video Recorder is a Philips VR 550 ) , both Philips and Panasonic model i use are supposed support NTSC , but anyway i still have the black border below and image to high like as result on DVD , the TV is also compatible NTSC , in fact i see the VHS NTSC clear on EXT 1 or EXT 2 depend on how i manage the scart below TV Video recoder and DVD recorder and image is not good when i see it on "Front" .

I read on internet that this problem can occur when we ty to record both Pal and NTSC on same DVD , so i use DVD-Ram and format after each test , but even like that that don't work , i use Videoclear 5 Max to be able to copy My VHS on My DVD without have the macrovision boring me .

You have any idea who can help me ?

    Thank's

Basically if you gat a PAL unit, your will only be able to record PAL video.

I got a zone 4 NTSC unit. This one is able to record NTSC, but it will not handle PAL video sources or zone 2 DVDs.

  5. I live in an NTSC area. ON the LiteOn 5001 standalone recorder, I have to change the output to the TV to PAL in order to record in the PAL format. I change the setting just before hitting the record button.

Yes he seem to record both Pal and NTSC even Europe version ! he also can support DVD±R/RW and CD-R/RW for read or record !

At first impression it's more "budget" serie who can record both Pal and NTSC rather then well know label like Philips , Sony , Panasonic ? Strange !

    Thank's !

This is interesting. My player has a PAL setting (used for Brasil). I wonder if after changing the configuration from NTSC to PAL, I’ll be able to record in PAL format.
