    Out of the blue my 2500 (1.07 firmware) is only showing up as 2x in every application (Nero, Roxio).

    I have tried to remove/reinstall the device in windows without any luck.

    Any hints?

    Check to make sure DMA is enabled (may require removing your IDE controller and letting them re-detect in XP). Also, if you have media in the drive, apps may show that as your max record speed.

    Yep. DMA is ok. Media is BulkPaq Generation 4 4x.

    Tho, when inserting a DVD+RW it states 2.4x.

    Might be the media after all.. But i have been using this for yonkers and never seen a problem. Will pick up a disc of a different brand tomorrow.

    What is the MID code for those Bulkpaq discs that you had in your drive when you were checking allowable burn speeds?
