it depends who u ask..
for me yes its worth it, i have the 716G. runs quite and cooler than my other computer, and with all the software they throw in.
but for some that builds their own computer, they might say different, well -
It's my opinion that when you buy any computer with a brand name such as Sony, Dell Gateway etc. the only thing your paying extra for is a sticker. Not only that but a lot of the brand name computers have propietary components in them which can only be used in that system. The only time they are worth purchasing is when your buying their bargain computer for $500 or $600 dollars which frankly is unbeatable even if you assemble it yourself.
Try here and compare www.abspc.com Make sure you compare exactly the same components (e.g. not how much ram but what ram) Their tech support is not that great but you won't find good tech support anywhere really. You could purchase the same system as advertised from them for about $100 to $200 dollars less and put it together yourself but they offer a 3 year warranty. There's other suppliers offering similar prices but I have dealt with them and although not ecstatic I am happy enough.
On a side note free software is free for a reason don't base your choice on what software your getting unless it's something you know you will use a lot such as Word.
