  1. I recently bartered for a new Athlon XP 2400+ processor (retail version) and had no machine to install it in. So I ordered a pair of these mainboards from newegg.com, with the intention of using them for everyday tasks not related to digital video.

I'm running them with 2400+ processors and 256MB DDR RAM. The onbaord graphics chipset is sharing 32MB of the DDR memory, and the onboard sound, modem and NIC are running. Both are installed with a dual-boot WinME/Windows2000 configuration on a 30GB 7200RMP drive with an Optorite CW5201 CD-RW.

This board is $48, and seems to be worth every penny. I'm impressed enough with its performance that I'm going to do some TMPGEnc conversions and ATI captures this weekend.

Anybody else purchased one of these boards? Your thoughts?

What's with you and WinME? You also forgot to mention that it's an SFF mainboard. They're OK for the price but I've seen plenty of issues come up over those SiS chipsets on other boards. Is there really enough room in those cases to use 4 IDE devices?

These are "play" computers more than anything else.

WinME and SiS are 2 products I've never had any problems with. VIA KT133 and KT133A are also officially on that list as well. The board mounts into the MicroATX posts on my cases without problems. I don't think the board would SFF well, though.

I installed it into a pretty good size ATX Mid-Tower case with 4 ATAPI and 2 IDE drives. No problems with airflow or cooling.

    Just for fun.

Win2k has absolute fits with the latest Adobe apps on my system at work. I hate always being one OS behind there
