im planning to add a new hard drive, currently i have 250gig UDMA/100...i like to get the SATA i dont know if my motherboard will support it (i have no documentation that it will, never opened the case too, tried sony website no help) do i have to get a host controller for the SATA.. or just get UDMA/133 will it be suffecient? ,ill be using it for video storage when encoding. ill like ur input guys..ty
by the way wat brand is better, i heard seagate or western digital. ..ty again![]()

Never used SATA. See no need for the added cost.
I believe Seagate has a better reputation. -
SATA drives are pretty close to the same cost as ATA drives are now, the only difference being those awesome 10k Raptor SATA drives which are totally worth the cost. From what I've seen with regular SATA drives there isn't too much performance increase over ATA. One thing I don't like is the SATA connectors. Try to get cables that have right-angle heads on them for the HDD connector. The ones that stick straight in are surprisingly easy to break.

if not much performance increase with SATA ill be better off with ATA then? coz SATA is a little bit expensive compared to regular ATA plus i think i have to buy PCI host adapter for SATA i dont think u can just plug this baby right to ur motherboard...im buying Seagate UDMA/133 then..thank you. -
