Hi everyone:
I am thinking to buy a graphic card with TV out function, but there are a
few things in my mind:
First of all, is it really a good idea to watch divx on TV in terms of image
and sound quality? There must be many people who have had experiences on
this, could you give me a few words on this?
Secondly, if it is worthwhile a try, which type or card or brand you
suggest? Nvida or ATI radeon?
Thirdly, What type of TV is the best suitble? 100Hz?
Fourthly, is the length of cable affecting the quality?
Thanks in advance for any reply and help!

ok, I dont' know a whole lot about video out, but I recently have been playing around with my card.
1. the quality seems better (video) when played on a tv then on my pc monitor. I turn my sound on my tv down and the sound on my pc up because the pc sound is better.
2. I have a "Radeon Ultra 64mb DDR vivo" that I got off of http://www.pricewatch.com for 145$ which is cheap and it came retail, not a gay brown box like some of my other stuff. I also use the card to play A LOT of pc games and it works very well with those even on the graphics turned all the way up.
3. i dont know
4. not sure, mine came witha composite and a s-video. I use the composite because my tv doesnt have a s-video plug. -
3. Yes. 100Hz TVs are always better than 50Hz.
4. Yes, but depends on what type of cable. A few metres of any sort of cable should be OK - there will be negligable difference.
S-Video is preferable to Composite Video.
What most people dont realize is that a scart socket can sometimes be used to input an S-Video signal into a TV. If the TV accepts S-Video through Scart and if you use a proper S-Video -> Scart cable - This is how I set my DVD and TV up. The TV may also have to be set to force it to read the S-Video signal thorugh the Scart.
