  1. Hooked my lappers up to the tv for the first time today. Everything works fine but as soon as I play a divx/xvid etc I get the sound and no picture, even though the pic is displayed on the lappers.

    Any ideas????

My laptop require me to ht [fn] and [F8] in order to have the video go external....look for a little computer screen on your function keys

That's to drive video from Laptop to external screen hooked up to 15pinD VGA connector... I believe Hardcoreruss is hooking up via SVideo jack on laptop. (I though the same thing right off the bat)

Mine is the same for both...The only time I don't have to do anything is when I'm playing a DVD and I connect the stupid dongle with RGB and Audio out on it. The DVD decoder automatically, out puts to both the dongle and the LCD. In the case of divx, it's not using the DVD decoder so it doesn't know that it's suppose to out put thru the dongle. That's at least how my laptop functions

And it plays a "regular" movie just fine? ... not that it should matter but what player are you using? maybe it recognizes and differentiates a DVD movie vs a DIVX movie. Doesn't know how to stream the DIVX out of the Svid port. That's got me beat.... maybe mfg will know more. Hey.. did you try a DIVX only player... maybe it will work better.

  14. This should work, first open the Divx file in one player (I use the old WMP by clicking run under the start menu and typing mplayer2) pause it and keep it open, then open the Divx file again in another player and it should be visible, it has something to do with overlay.

  19. Right sorry about the belated response, still no joy. Get the sound but no picture. Have tried it on different tv's and its the same on all tv's. Cant be a codec problem as the vids work on the pc. Say in WMP i get the wmp stuff on the tv's fine but a black square where the vid should be.

Sounds like an overlay issue. Did you look at the link above?

Then it's definately an overlay issue. There should be a setting in the display adapter properties to deal with that. Can you provide the name and version of the laptops display adapter?

  23. Put on dual monitors (spannign accross) and move the media player window to the TV, see if it displays video...
