  1. I currently have Pinnacle Studio 9 to capture, edit and burn my dvds. I also have Nero 6.
My MAIN interest is converting my VHS tapes to DVD with the very best quality possible. I currently go from my VCR SVHS (or composite Video) output to a TBC (datavideo TBC-100) to a ADS PYRO A/V Link (converts analog to digital signal). From there I go to a PCI IEEE1394 Firewire card.
This is where my main question comes in-what is all the hype about TMPGEnc? What is it used for, and can it do certain things better than Pinnacle Studio 9?
Once again, my main concern is getting the best quality transfer from VHS to DVD as possible.
I have no problem with mixing up different programs (Pinnacle, Nero, TMPGEnc, etc) as long as I know what each one can do.
    All responses are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

TMPGenc is an MPEG2 encoder. Generally considered better
    quality than most .
