As some of you may have noticed the new lines of Yammie amps have finally introduced a lot of video conversion functions that i expected to be in the amp i actually bought a while ago [dsp ax 630es] but which evidently weren't.. fool me for thinking £400 worth of a/v digital <-> analogue conversion unit might be able to actually convert for outputs ... but anyway.. with a view to enjoying this flexibility for capturing i wondered what some of the video techeads think. At the moment i use one of the svid outputs to feed to my capture card.. everything goes through my amp at the moment, its the absolute hub. All consoles, vcr/dvd/pc/hii etc route through it and just selecting whatever input lets me capture that source, which is exactly what i wanted.. but in this generation of amps you cant output a signal type other than what was input.. so given that i dont have a plasma screen and not everything has component out and besides the capture card only takes svideo input.. that's what everything is hooked in with.
With the upconversion to component offered in the new lines, i was wondering what this might signify for say.. recording to the jvc dvd recorder in component [does it have component in?] .. and generally however the conversion is achioeved [ignoring composite conversions.. wouldnt bother] can it be very good.. ?
bit rambling, soz.. opinions welcome
