  1. Is it possible to burn 2 DVD's at once on the same computer? Assuming there were 2 dvd writers of course. Or would this cause buffer underun errors?

  4. I run two HP 420i writers on a PIII-600 Win98SE system. It has literally doubled my output and I've never had a single buffer underrun.

  5. That's good to know. However I do notice problems when I try and copy two DVD's at once using DVD Decrypter. The read rates just drop down to nothing as if they're interfering with each other, and if I stop one of them then the other goes back to normal.

Is this a problem because the read rates are really high compared to writing?

  6. If you have nero 6.xx you can actually burn two different dvd at the same time there may be a guide here i can't remember. Here is how I do it. I open Nero Express Set it up. Then I open the Regular Nero and Set it up.When I'm done I push burn on both Haven't had a single problem yet.

The way to burn two the same you need to open regular Nero. Open new dvd video go to the burn tab check multiple recorders.Set up you project. Now Press the burn icon. This Should show all your recorders.IMPORTANT FINAL STEP hold down the control key and select you additional recorders.

  7. Sure it's possible. However if you're using IDE/ATAPI drives, you should really look at getting an additional IDE controller card (pretty cheap!). If you use SCSI or external w/firewire, you can just daisy-chain them.

I use 3 burners (Plex, Nec and Pio) and they can burn at the same time. The only thing is that they should not be on the same cable. The Plex is IDE, Nec is USB2 and the Pioneer is on firewire. But I had two burners running from USB2's also before. The main thing I found is that as long as the media source is not coming off the same HD/ROM then I can burn without much slowdown. I usually use 3 different HD as source when I do multi-burns. I used NERO, DVDshrink and CloneDVD2 and by using 3 diff programs, I get less issues but then I have used any combinations of those 3 and had very liitle issues. Mostly I only do 2 at a time. I rip to HD using DVDDecrypter

i have one dvd burner, but im thinkin about gettin another. i have 2 HDs, so if i have DVD images on 2 different drives going to different burners it should be fine right? the 2 writers would be on one IDE cable from the MoBo, one HD on a IDE from the MoBo and another HD on a 133/ATA PCI card.

    think this would work?

    thanx

ive also never had a buffer underrun b/c my burner and most new ones seem to be "burn-proof." so it seems like it should work.

That shld be fine. I just found thru try and error is that when I tried to burn from the same HD with diff source materials to diff burners that I have slowdowns and some failures. I even gone as far as having the HD's on diff cables (USB2, and IDE and SATA... LOL) and just being a parnoid type of guy I have the burners on diff cables also (IDE internal, USB2 external and firewire external). I just make sure that the USB2 HD is not going to the USB2 Burner. I done a lot of 2 but only few 3 atatime burns. Thank goodness for Hyperthreading on the P4's....

  13. I have two I-OMagic 8X IDE DVD writers (BTC DVDRW IDE1008, firmware version 0758). When I write to one drive, I'm getting around 3X speed with current media. But when I write to both drives (using Roxio 6) the write speeds drop to under .5X.

Is there any way to get the speed up. These drives are on the same IDE bus (master/slave). I'm running a Windows XP Pro machine with an ABit NF7-S mobo, Athlon XP 2700, 768 meg ram.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

get something like a promise tx2000/tx2 ide card and put each on a seperate bus

unless you have extra unused ide ports ..... then just put each on seperate buss's
