  1. Hello,

I am having trouble opening any AVI files in Pinnacle Studio 9.

If I double-click on an AVI file through Windows Explorer it launches in my default AVI file player without a problem.

If I try to open the same file in Pinnacle I keep getting an "Error Opening Video File" message. It says "The video file "path/filename" could not be opened.

I've searched this site with various combinations but I can't find anything referring to this. I've also looked thru the Pinnacle Studio help system with no luck.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so, were you able to get around it?

Thanks in advance fro any help!

    David.

    David.

I would post this on the Pinnacle Forum Web Site.

Possibly the AVI File format is not what Pinnacle wants to see. Possibly there could be a flavor of AVI it is expecting. What did you use to create this file?

  3. Thanks. I'll post it on Pinnacle's forum.

FYI - The AVI files were actually generated by another Video Editing program (I think it was a trial version of ULead Video Studio but I'm not sure). I guess I just assumed that if it was AVI it would conform to a standard format for AVI files. My mistake for assuming.

    Thanks for replying.

  4. I did find something on Pinnacle's site. Apparently there are two types of AVI files (I know, some of you will say "Duuh" but remember I'm a newbie) and Pinnacle only supports type 2.

Anyway, now I'm wondering if there is a way for me to convert the file from one type to the other.

    Can anyone help me?

    Thanks!
