  1. I just bought a dvd burner and want to convert some avi, vcd, svcds to dvd.

Whats the best audio format, for example: wave, mp3 etc?

Also most of my movies are in 2 parts, do i scroll the bitrate % from 99 to 50 so I can burn both parts on dvd-r?

Well mp3 is not a DVD Standard and you cannot use it.

    Wav , ac3 , mp2 are your options

Wav takes up a lot of space so ac3 or mp2 are the better options

ac3 being the more compatible format.

For avi to DVD you work out the best bitrate using the Videohelp Bitrate Calculator , Convert your audio to ac3 and encode the video parts seperately and add them together in the authoring stage.

For VCD to DVD there is no point re-encoding as you wont improve the quality , you just use TMPGenc DVD Author and create a DVD with your Mpeg1's .

For SVCD to DVD you could try SVCD2DVD or SVCD2DVDMPG ,
However I prefer to Demux the mp2 audio and re-encode the video then author the DVD.

This should give you some starting points.
