  1. I've been backing up DVD's for quite some time now and have only recently realised that I haven't verified anything that I've burnt. I've downloaded Nero CD/DVD Speed to check them.

I've got two computers - my computer has the Pioneer 106D DVD burner, whilst my wife's computer has my old Pioneer DVD/CD-RW combo drive. Testing the same burnt DVD resulted in it being reported as faulty on the combo drive, but fine on the computer it was burnt on.

Is the combo drive at fault or is it flaky media? (The media is Princo/Shintaro which I know has a bad reputation.)

I've since downloaded DVDInfo Pro (adware edition) and it reports the same thing.

    Any ideas?

Also, I'm now using the verify option when burning using Nero to prevent this from happening anymore.

    Thanks...

    Media

Even if it's verified in the burner the media still suck.

  3. Ditto...

My Pioneer burns and reads crappy media very well. A couple of my DVD players don't read crappy media well at all.

In general, burner drives aren't the best devices to test quality with. Use a standalone or DVD-Rom drive.

Being Princo I would say media for sure.I use a lite-on 166S with the speed locks removed to test my burns it tops out at 14x. the faster the better to test the quality of the burns you do.
