  1. Hi All,

    Could you please help.

I have a DVD backed up on a DVDR in VIDEO_TS format. When I put the disc in to the set-top player, it comes up with a browser showing me two folders, VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS. I can go in to the VIDEO_TS folder and choose the first file and the movie plays fine. When I pop the disc back in the PC drive and try to back-up to HD again, shrink comes up with an error message saying that the specified file does not exist. DVDDecrypter backs it up to the HD fine but only in the same format as the disc is in already. I have looked at another back-up that I have on my HD and it would seem that the navigation file is missing from the VIDEO_TS folder (VIDEO_TS.IFO) Is the a program out there that will look at the files I already have and then make the navigation file needed. I am thinking that something like IFOEdit will do it but just don't know how.

    Any Thoughts Please.

    Many Thanks In Advance.

  2. See if you have a VIDEO_TS.BUP. If you do, simply copy it to VIDEO_TS.IFO and you are set. The BUP stands for BackUP and is placed on the disk in case the IFO can not be read due to a scratch. I would guess that you have neither becasue your set-top player would have used it. Most likely your authoring software did not complete the generation of the DVD image. The VIDEO_TS.IFO and .BUP are usually the last files written.

You should always check to make sure these files are present before burning a disk. RecordNow Max has an option that detects that you are trying to make a DVD and checks for the necessary files. If they are not there it does not record the disk.

To recreate these files from just the VOBs is going to be hard if not impossible. Maybe someone knows of a trick.

    Good luck.

  3. Hi,

Thanks for the reply mate and yes, you are cforrect, I haven't got either of those files present in the folder. However, I have just done something in IFOEdit which has read the original files and has created the files you mentioned above. I am just copying my original files to the same directory to see what I get.

    Fingers crossed

  4. musotechy,

First you need to delete all the other files except the .vob files.

Then open IFOEdit and click on ' Create IFO ' button located at the bottom center of the window.

Navigate to the .vob files and click the first vob file - VTS_01_1.VOB only.

Leave other buttons alone, they should be set at default.

After the processing is done, close and exit IFOEdit.

Reopen IFOEdit and click 'open' at the bottom left.

Look for the newly created VTS_TS.IFO file and click on it.

Go to the bottom pane of the window and click ' GET VTS Sectors '.

    Click yes to all popups.

Click ' Save ' and click yes.

    Exit IFOEdit.

  5. Thanks for the info, it is what I have done (except removing the files first) and it works although I have a flicker every now and then so, I will go back and delete as you have instructed and do it again.

Thanks To All For Your Help

  8. Me Again

I have another one, this time I have done the above but IFOEdit only creates the files for the first two vob's and then says it's finished. I am pretty sure that this isn't right but continued to the second part. IFOEdit just threw up loads of error messages.

    Any Ideas?
