I have a MKV file which I am having problems decompressing (if that's what I need to do to watch it) I have tried Avi2VCD and it freezes at 0%, when I try and use VirtualDubMod I get an error message saying 'corona.dll' is missing, although doing a search in these forums did find some info I still couldn't figure it out any help much appreciated.

  2. "Corona.dll" is included in the "VirtualDubMod All Inclusive" Package. Maybe its time to download a fresh copy.

After installing the Matroska Pack you should be able to open the file in TMPGEnc by choosing "Open / All files".

    Whats your destination?

    MKV - it's the future!
It's also a pain in the arse!

For the record, an MKV file is a CONTAINER just like AVI files.

To get my system to recognise MKVs I installed Matroska_Pack_Full_v1.0.2.exe

(Note: There are two different versions - the UniCode version is for XP)

For some reason this was not enough but after installing the excellent TheCore Media Player (configured to accept MKVs) things worked.

Now, you will still need the various codecs installed on your PC to enable you to play the video / audio contained in your MKV file. If you don't know which codecs are required, use TheCore Media Player -> File Properties -> Matroska Info Tab.

Media Player (although extension not recognized) now played my MKV movie - this is a big step forwards because if this is the case then you can use AVISynth (don't be put off by this program - it's the dogs danglers) to frameserve it to other programs such as VirtualDub, AVItoVCD etc.

    Hope this helps,

    Andy
    Work you bloody thing....

  4. VLC should play Matroska files by itself. So it says here.
