I just logged on today and there are only 88,000 users online using it. What the hell is going on. Just a day or two ago there were over 3 million. Anybody know what's up? I know Devanshu was asking some questions about new filesharing programs and now I am considering finding a new one. Devanshu, what one did you download and use in place of kazaa lite?

Trying BitTornado. I like it so far. Fairly easy to configure with my router. Also use Emule, much better than Kazaa, less trojans and viruses. I think Kazaa has been targeted by the RIAA forces, not to be around much longer. BitTornado is a lot easier to figure out than regular BitTorrent. Download of anything over a gig is slow, 4-5 hours, but at least the files are usable after download. A little fine tuning and things should improve. I got my nastiest trojans and viruses from Kazaa. I don't miss it. There are a lot of new P2P programs out there now, look around and find something you like.

I just checked out Kazaa-lite and there are 2.4 million users on line. I find everything I've looked for at Kazza-lite, but must admit there are viruses.

There's just as many viruses on one file sharing service as there is on any other. They just spread faster on the bigger networks. It's not like any of them scan the files or do anything at all to protect the users from a virus.

I must agree with stiltman...
mIRC and WS_FTP Pro is just as easy and usually as quick as anything else.
For you newbies...mIRC is an internet chat program (IRC), but it has several and by "several" I mean millions of users. If you go into a room, and you are looking for something like for example.....Janet Reno wearing a thong.....someone will have it (I promise you someone will have it
)......you 2 go to a private room, he gives you his IP address, you fire up WS_FTP Pro, connect to that IP address, browse for the file and transfer it.
Some may be thinking....why not just send it across like you do with MSN....well that's because after some time, you get to know some of these people and you can fire up a FTP and browse their HD like it's your own and transfer whatever you want. Most will have a shared folder, with sub folders in catagories and it's a trust that you don't do anything malicious to their PC.
When you first go to mIRC, to get items from other users you have to trade them something for it. For example, maybe to get that picture of Janet Reno in a Thong, I may have to trade a picture of Rosie O'Donell in a S&M pictorial
I am not a big file transferer, I have mIRC and I do visit it every so often but being on a dialup helps prevent me from getting myself into questionable ground legally. -
I use PowerGrab 2002 now.

Kazaa is a good program to test your anti-virus software.
If it works, don't fix it. -
I've been using eDonkey and I love it! I've also been using IRC a lot and love it too.
I've been a big supporter of BT in the past, but I just had a 3.0GB download stop at 95%. I talked with the original seeder and she said that everyone is stuck there for some reason. So I spent 5 days downloading and now the videos can't be watched because they are not completely down. If I try to watch them they skip all around from spot to spot. I'm losing my faith in BT. -
I've been using WinMx for years now. I'm so used to it that I don't have any interest in changing to anything else now. I always seem to find what I want eventually on it.

I use overnet, which uses the ED2K network.

I just finally dumped kazaa altogether. Too many problems and a big waste of time. Now I am using WinMX and Emule(for videos) and both seem great. I'm much happier now. I also installed Zone Alarm after my virus incident the other night from kazaa. I feel better and safer...it's great

I used Kazzaa for the longest time until my friend told me about bittorrent. Now I don't use anything else. I found with Kazzaa that so often the files that I was downloading would not be what they said they were. And the quality of songs and video were often not very good. I still use it once in awhile to download single songs. However, for anything else I go with bittorrent. I use the Azureus client. Downloaded about 400 gigs in about 2 months. Actually, bittorrent was a big reason for me to get a DVD burner.

Kazaa also has that Bulldog or bullguard crap that's always popping up and it's buggier than Windows 95 and ME put together. Also the crappy file and viruses that were floating all over, people just didn't want it. There is still a good crowd with them still.
