I have checked the Compatablity Guids. All the post talked about changing the firmware to get DVD +/_R to play on an Apex AD600. Can it play either DVD Media in its native state. I'm just starting to try a DVD burner and was wondering would it work on the Apex with out a firmware update.

  2. I have never been able to play DVD-R on my AD-600A. I've never bothered to update the firmware.
That's my opinion, and if you don't like it, I'll change it.

  3. As an owner of a 600A and two 660's, I find the best bet is to replace the stock DVD loader w/ a PC DVD-ROM. The Korean DVS loaders in those players have lasers that weaken over time or they simply give up the ghost. As the loader uses an IDE connection, a new DVD-ROM will allow burned media to work. I couldn't play burned DVD's on any of the above players, but since replacing the loaders, now play -R, +R & +RW media w/ no problems. I can attest to this. It weakens. But with good players at the $100 mark, just upgrade.
