I know this has been mentioned before but here are some of my results using two versions of DVD Shrink to backup R2 Moulin Rouge, movie only, no extras, no extra audios, no subtitles.
DVD Media Brand: Datawrite 4x (Media ID: Princo) and burning with Nero 5.5.10.42 on a Pioneer DVR-106D writer in both cases.
1st attempt using DVD Shrink 3.1.3. Compression setting was 90.5%, re-encoded and burned disc with no problems. However, when played back on my stand alone player, Pioneer DV525, there was pixelization/glitches in the last few minutes before and during the end credits.
2nd attempt using DVD Shrink 3.0 beta5. Compression setting was 91%, re-encoded and burned disc with no problems. No pixelization at all when played back on stand alone player.
Thinking back to other discs where I've used Shrink (3.1.3, 3.1.5 and 3.1.7), pixelization only seems to occur when using compression. No compression = no problems. Any problems I've had only appear in the last 15-20 minutes of a film depending on the amount of compression used, ie. the less compression used, the nearer to the end of the film pixelization occurs.

Hi Keefkey.
Have you made the same test using v3.1.7? -
it's common though that when you run into pixels towards the end of the movie, in most cases its the media. On top of that you are using one of the most notoriously bad apples out there (princo), try using better media and see if it still does it with the same film you just mentioned above.

I used Nero CD-DVD Speed to do a File Test and Surface Scan on the 'faulty' disc. The Scan was 100% OK but the File Test had an error reading the VTS_01_04.VOB file.
Better media is definitely required but I've still got 14 of these would be coasters left
Thank you both for replyingWrap the tape firmly around the hamster... -
You're welcome. Let us know how you get along.

i had the same pixel.. proglem but with one of the first 3.1.7 versions. went back to ver 3.1.6 and it was fine. now im using the latest 3.1.7 and its also fine. for me it was NOT media related it WAS dvdshrink itself as i belive it has been for a great many people. i say just update to the LATEST dvdshrink and it should be all good. if not find yourself a copy of v3.1.6 worked fine for me.
cheers
